John Meyer – Co-Founder & CEO

John Meyer is a revenue-focused and accomplished media executive with extensive experience building profitable media brands across both the private and public sectors. He has led all facets of media business growth, including sales, operations, product development, marketing, editorial strategy, and audience development. John is the CEO and Co-Founder of Fed Gov Today, which he launched in 2023 to deliver high-impact multimedia coverage of innovation, technology, and leadership across the federal government.

John began his career at WTOP, the top-billing radio station in the country. During his 19-year tenure, he launched and scaled Federal News Radio (Network) and WTOP.com into highly trafficked and profitable media brands. He later joined WJLA-TV, where he expanded Government Matters into a six-day-a-week television program. John also served as SVP of Sales Operations at Scoop News Group, where he helped drive significant revenue growth and launched The Daily Scoop Podcast with Francis Rose.

George Jackson – Host

George Jackson is the Host of State Gov Today and the Chief Content Officer at Fed Gov Today, where he leads content strategy across TV, digital, social, and podcast platforms. In this role, he develops and approves new programming, serves as an on-air contributor and occasional guest host, and represents the brand at major industry events. George also oversees editorial planning and guest outreach, directs production from scripting to post, and ensures content remains aligned with audience needs and business goals.

Previously, George held several roles at GovExec, including Vice President of Events and Executive Director of their Content Studio. He launched, led, and hosted GovExec TV—building it into a multi-million dollar brand—earning GovExec’s inaugural Entrepreneurial Spirit Award. He was also named a 2024 “B2B Media Rising Star” by SIIA and won a 2024 Telly Award for the series AI and the Public Sector.

Earlier in his career, George produced Capital Insider at WJLA-TV, where he earned an Emmy in 2012. Not long after, he launched Government Matters—a show about the business of government—and guided it from pilot to international platform. Along the way, he also produced its first feature-length documentary, The Dawn of Generation AI.

George began his journalism career at WJHL-TV in Tennessee and holds degrees from The Ohio State University and the University of Maryland. He lives with his wife, twin daughters, and a pack of rescue dogs in Northern Virginia.

Stephen Mackey – Chief Creative Officer

A Telly-award winning producer and director and MarCom-award winning creative director, Stephen brings to State Gov Today a wide range of experience in all facets of digital marketing and multimedia production. Previously, Stephen was the Chief Creative Officer at W2 Communications, an integrated marketing agency serving the public sector and cybersecurity industries. Prior to W2, he was the co-founder and Creative Director at Mesh Omnimedia, a leading B2B creative agency based in Northern Virginia.

In 2018, Stephen released his first feature-length documentary, the critically acclaimed “This Business of Autism.” The film was selected for numerous international film festivals and features the legendary Dr. Temple Grandin.

Stephen is also the co-founder, brewer and winemaker for Notaviva Farm Brewery & Winery, his family farm in Northern Virginia where he lives with his wife, three sons and a platoon of animals. His novel, “Dream. Build. Believe.” on the founding of their farm (filmed for the HGTV series, “Dream House”) was published by Mascot Books.

Early in his career Stephen circled the globe as an audio engineer and event producer. He holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of Miami and a Master of Science in Digital Marketing Communications from West Virginia University.
